Glycemic Index (GI):

GI is a way to evaluate the effects of carbohydrates on blood glucose levels. GI is a means of recognizing starchy foods with a lower glycemic potential mainly the foods that are less likely to cause an increase in the blood glucose level.

The glycemic index of a food is referred to as the area under the two hour blood glucose response curve following the intake of a fixed portion of carbohydrate (usually 50 g).

The glycemic index illustrates this variation by ranking carbohydrates according to their effect on our blood glucose levels.

Choosing Low GI Carbohydrate Foods mainly the ones that produce only small variations in our blood glucose and insulin levels is the top secret to a long-lasting good health and in reducing the risk of heart disease and diabetes and also is the solution to sustainable weight loss.
