Symptoms of Diabetes :

The Symptoms of Diabetes Mellitus include the following:

  • Polyuria is the increase in the volume of urine. Diabetics urinate very often.
  • Polydipsia is the increased thirst and consequent increase in the fluid intake.
  • Polyphagia is the increased appetite.
  • Glycosuria is the excretion of large amounts of glucose in the urine. In some cases, it may be up to 100g / day.
  • Ketosis is the presence of excess amount of ketone bodies in the blood. Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is an extreme state of metabolic disregulation characterized by the smell of acetone on the patient's breath.
  • Diabetic coma occurs when there is ketoacidosis and increasing drowsiness that can prove fatal.
  • Acidaemia (acidosis) develops which produces hyperventilation or air hunger as it is commonly referred to as.
  • Anorexia is the condition where lack of appetite develops along with nausea and vomiting.
  • Dehydration is the increased loss of water and electrolytes in the urine.
  • Other symptoms include nausea, vomiting, weakness, tiredness, rapid and deep breathing, blurred vision, irritation in the skin and other infections.
